If you are familiar with my travel preferences, you will know that I possess a profound appreciation for English castles. England boasts numerous remarkable castles spanning across the country, many of which are truly magnificent to visit. Even better, a select few of these castles offer accommodations, making them an ideal choice for a getaway, such as Studley Castle in Warwickshire.
Following our delightful visits to Arundel Castle and Bamburgh Castle, I felt a strong desire to experience staying in a castle myself. Studley Castle presents the perfect opportunity to unwind while exploring this captivating region of England.
Situated amidst the undulating hills and picturesque countryside of Warwickshire, Studley Castle dates back to the 1800s, making it relatively recent in historical terms. Recently, Warner Leisure has undertaken a meticulous restoration of the castle, revitalizing it to its former elegance.
This restoration has not only preserved historical elements but also introduced modern amenities that enhance the visitor experience, resulting in a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels luxurious and welcoming.
Upon arrival, guests will immediately notice the impressive stature and grandeur of Studley Castle, particularly as you drive through the scenic grounds leading up to it. This majestic structure proudly overlooks the enchanting English countryside that envelops it, with its turrets, towers, and grand entrance stirring excitement from the moment of arrival.

Accommodation Options at Studley Castle
Studley Castle encompasses both a historic section and a contemporary extension, offering luxurious accommodations and a sophisticated spa experience for relaxation.
Additionally, the adaptation of old stables and other historical areas has resulted in charming rooms, activity centers, and ample space for afternoon tea, inviting exploration throughout the premises.
Initially, I questioned how the new section of the accommodation could harmonize with the older parts of Studley Castle. However, once inside, the transition feels seamless.
Each area of the hotel radiates an enchanting castle ambiance.
This implies that whether you prefer to stay in the historic castle or enjoy the contemporary balcony rooms, both options provide a uniquely special experience.
Additionally, the accommodations feature all the amenities expected from a luxury hotel, all situated within the exquisite setting of a castle!
The accommodations are equipped with spacious rain showers, luxurious beds, and thoughtful personal touches that reflect the local area. A significant highlight for me personally is the provision of fresh milk for tea every day, which, although seemingly trivial, greatly enhances the quality of a cup of tea in a hotel room, a small detail that can dramatically influence one’s day.
As with any quality hotel, a range of room options is available to accommodate diverse preferences and requirements. We opted for a balcony room to fully embrace the delightful summer sunshine during our stay.
Now, let’s move on to discuss the activities available at Studley Castle.
Activities at Studley Castle
Studley Castle offers more than just a simple accommodation experience—it is conducive to both relaxation and adventure. One can easily plan an extensive itinerary filled with activities, indulgence, and leisure time. This characteristic is what makes Studley Castle particularly appealing.
As previously mentioned, the new section features a modern spa, equipped with steam rooms, hot tubs, and a spacious indoor pool for relaxation. Furthermore, numerous spa suites are available for customized massage treatments, an indulgence I personally relished.
The estate itself is expansive, offering various experiences spread throughout the grounds. For example, numerous outdoor activities such as croquet and archery can be found on the main lawn, while other segments include shooting ranges and scenic walking paths.
After a brief introduction to the activities available, my companion had a go at shooting in a secure environment. To my surprise, he achieved excellent results despite his poor eyesight.
Given our competitive spirits, I opted to hold back, choosing to observe from a safe distance as I was somewhat concerned about being outperformed.
In case of inclement weather, Studley Castle offers an on-site cinema featuring freshly-popped popcorn. Additionally, live entertainment from various performers is provided in the evenings and during special events.
Dining Options at Studley Castle
The culinary experience holds significant importance to me; after all, it is a core aspect of any weekend getaway or vacation that I genuinely cherish. Enjoying delectable cuisine can profoundly enhance the overall experience, and Studley Castle certainly meets this expectation.

For both breakfast and dinner, the Evesham Restaurant serves a market-style dining, allowing guests to select from a diverse range of delectable options. From traditional Sunday roast to satisfying curries and baked salmon, there is something to cater to every palate. Personally, I found myself going back for seconds due to the sheer variety.
Furthermore, a gelato carousel provides an extravagant selection; I must confess that I indulged in three scoops, purely for testing purposes.
If a market-style dining experience does not appeal to you, the Arden Café offers a more informal atmosphere with views of the lush surroundings of the castle. However, prepare yourself to leave fully satisfied, as the food is exceptionally delectable. I opted for a Scotch egg to start, followed by the classic fish and chips.
Meanwhile, my travel companion indulged in a succulent steak that was devoured within moments.
Additionally, the Oak Room offers an enchanting atmosphere and serves as a remarkable location for afternoon tea. The freshly baked scones emit a delightful fragrance, attracting guests as they approach the Oak Room.
As expected, we decided to enhance our afternoon tea experience with a few sparkling beverages, after all, we were enjoying a stay in a castle.
Guests can choose from an extensive range of options for afternoon tea, including a diverse selection of teas.
