What to Do
Dean’s Blue Hole
The world’s second-deepest blue hole does not receive the fanfare it deserves. A simple wooden sign points the way to Dean’s Blue Hole. The clear waters allow for excellent snorkeling, although for safety, it’s advisable to use goggles. Scuba diving is also popular here without the hassle of long lines or fees.
Top tip: The drop-off can be sudden; be especially cautious with youngsters and non-swimmers.
Hamilton Cave
As the largest cave system in the Bahamas, Hamilton Cave holds a rich history that dates back to the Lucayan Indians. Guided tours of this vibrant ecosystem reveal unique species of bats, crickets, and more. Leonard Cartwright, a local expert with decades of experience, offers insightful tours of the cave’s wonders.
