THE LOCATION
If you are in pursuit of a magnificent white sand beach situated less than 30 minutes from Phuket Airport, then TWINPALMS PHUKET luxury resort represents an excellent selection, featuring stunning accommodations and penthouse residences less than a two-minute walk from the picturesque SURIN BEACH. When planning our getaway, I utilized Google Maps to identify hotels within a thirty-minute radius from the airport, since I find that longer transfers with children can often be more taxing than relaxing.
GETTING THERE
Our private butler Som-O greeted us in the arrivals lounge at the airport and escorted us to the resort’s luxurious limousine van where we traveled with style and comfort, utilizing their in-car Wi-Fi service while relaxing in their massage seats. The journey took approximately 25 minutes, yet it felt considerably shorter. Indigo (3 years old) was mesmerized by the massage seat, laughing the entire journey, while Sebastian (5 months old) peacefully slept in his maxi-cosi after being awake throughout the flight. Utter bliss!
THE SERVICE
The staff provided an exceptional experience, welcoming us with warm smiles and champagne drinks. They even crafted a mocktail in a champagne glass for Indigo, ensuring she did not feel excluded. Additionally, we were presented with beautiful jasmine flowers woven into a bracelet, emanating a delightful fragrance. Indigo insisted on keeping them forever and taking them home!
The check-in procedure was seamless, and we received an unexpected surprise: an upgrade to the resort’s two-bedroom presidential penthouse! Upon entering the expansive 400 square feet residence, Som-O presented us with personal options from three possible flower arrangements and a selection of scents for the bedrooms.
We were subsequently invited to the main resort pool where we savored some of Thailand’s finest fruits. The mango was extraordinarily sweet – I am still reminiscing about it!
THE FACILITIES
Our penthouse residence offered an abundance of amenities, exceeding our expectations! It was three times larger than our apartment in Singapore, and included an impressive 3D plasma TV room, a fully equipped kitchen (including a baby bottle sterilizer), a generous wooden dining table that could comfortably accommodate 10 guests, two inviting lounge areas, and large sliding doors that opened to our 16-meter private lap pool.
Upon ascending the staircase, we were pleased to find two bedrooms featuring king-size beds and spacious bathrooms. Each bathroom was equipped with showers, toilets, double hand basins, but the highlight was undoubtedly the elegant bathtub prominently displayed in the center, complete with stylish drink holders.
Som-O graciously assisted in preparing a luxurious rose petal bath, aiming to surprise my flower-enthusiast daughter for a charming photograph. However, in typical toddler fashion, she awoke on the wrong side of the bed (likely due to too much sun and chlorine) and refused even to glance at it! I regretted letting it go to waste and opted to indulge in a few moments of relaxation, albeit briefly, before little Sebastian woke up!
THE AESTHETIC
The aesthetic of the resort is serene and visually appealing, providing a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the streets. The grounds are adorned with towering palm trees and exquisite gardens. The main lagoon pool spans over 1600 square meters, incorporating a shallow kids pool, and wraps around the accommodations (similar to a moat), allowing guests to jump from their balcony into the pool. The charming checkered towels paired with neutral day beds and umbrellas create an eco-friendly ambiance while guests enjoy the sun filtering through the palm trees.
PALM SEASIDE RESTAURANT
Visitors will be highly impressed when entering the stunning PALM SEASIDE RESTAURANT. The atmosphere resembles that of a Miami film set, featuring white marble dining tables nestled within cabanas around an impressive pool feature, coupled with stylish white interiors, sophisticated décor, and breathtaking ocean views.
For lunch, we enjoyed melt-in-your-mouth sashimi as an appetizer, fresh prawns and fish for our main course, complemented by Singha beers. It was a delightful family-friendly venue that was both photogenic and satisfying.
TWINPALMS PHUKET FOR KIDS
While the resort does not feature a dedicated kids’ club and does not primarily market itself as a child-friendly establishment, it accommodates families exceptionally well! Baby cots and high chairs, a children’s menu, and babysitting services are available. The staff clearly loves children and engaged playfully with Sebastian whenever we were near the main lagoon pool. We brought along our stroller and navigated a few stairs, yet overall, we found the resort to be a wonderful and intimate family getaway.
