Summary
Our arrival in Ibiza was straight off the heels of our time wine tasting draaanking in Slovenia and, seeing as we wanted to maximize our time there, we made the decision to leave on one of the earliest flights out of London to Ibiza.
This seemed like such an amazing decision till we realized we would only have a few hours turn-around in London – which in turn meant very little sleep.
Needless to say, I arrived in Ibiza ridiculously tired after a couple of hours of sleep.
Despite the lack of sleep, arriving at the amazing hotel in Ibiza was definitely an experience that perked me up more than a double espresso would.
I’d been looking forward to going to Ibiza for quite a few weeks now (especially as my main plans for the rest of the week were all about the many ways I could chill in the sun).
After a quick wander around the Migjorn Ibiza, I quickly succumbed to the need for a snooze and didn’t stir for ages! You might think that snoozing would set me right for the rest of the day, but I could think of nothing better than indulging in some spa time, watching the sunset, and enjoying delicious Spanish food. (And yes, I know this isn’t exactly an exciting plan for a weekend night in Ibiza, but in fairness to me, I’d been drinking for almost four days solid so I needed this! 😉 )
I relished the spa time as long as possible before eventually deciding to head out to watch the sunset!
Es Vedra is one of the most iconic spots on the entire island, and the last time I was here, I’d missed out on seeing this spot so this was the very first place we decided to head to!
You can’t drive up to it (unless you’re on a motorcycle) so you’ve gotta drive as close as you can and finish the rest on foot. (It’s just a 5 – 10 minute walk).
Es Vedra is as stunning as they said it would be, and the cliffs here are pretty shear too! It allegedly gets really busy in summer, so to get to see it without the crowds was pretty sweet!
That photo above looks calm and serene but what it doesn’t show is how terrified I was to be close to the edge! (Note how I’m sitting down and not standing. I pretty much crawled to the edge to get this photo.)
If you veer to the left though, it starts to get less steep…
…and if you wander off far enough, you start to find caves (where it appears people live in).
We stayed as long as we could to watch the sunset but had to leave just shy of the sun disappearing over the horizon as it was time for dinner! A dinner I’d particularly been looking forward to as well!
We made our way back to San Josep where we would be having dinner at the UNIC Restaurant.
The restaurant is actually located right next to the hotel, which was perfect for how lazy I’d been feeling all day! Funny that, when we travel, we’re almost always on the go from dawn till nightfall and having the opportunity to do absolutely nothing is something I am genuinely starting to relish more and more. 🙂

Leaning even further into the lazy/indulgent haze that had taken over me, I decided to go for the 10 course tasting menu! In the past, I’ve stretched up to 7 courses, but never as much as 10, so I was really intrigued to see how this would go (and pretty hungry, so I was VERY ready for this).
We started off with the Brioche with duck rillette and pickle mayonnaise…
…swiftly followed by foie gras.
…and the oysters with pigs trotters and shitake mushrooms!
Each course was tastier than the last! At this stage, I knew I’d definitely made the right choice opting for 10 courses.
We continued with some langoustines and chicken with gnocchi in a delicious broth!
All amply aided by a lot of fizz (if you were on snapchat at the time, you’d know what I mean)…
…followed by red prawn cannelloni…
…and beef sirloin with ashes tataki.
Then came my absolute favorite – the pork loin with mango and sweet and sour pears! This disappeared in micro-seconds!
We move on to the goat cheese and “Malacosta” jelly… At this stage, I was definitely starting to feel rather stuffed, but in the name of research (i.e., greed), I decided to press on. Also, I don’t know how to say no to delicious food – if you ever find out how to, please do let me know. 🙂
