Summary of the Best Things to Do in Moncton
Being the biggest city in New Brunswick, Moncton is a fantastic destination while traveling across the province or visiting the best spots in Nova Scotia. This city has numerous attractions that make it an ideal base for exploring the wider region, including the Bay of Fundy.
Although Moncton may not have the same allure as other famous Canadian cities like Toronto or Vancouver, its unique atmosphere and history certainly make it worth a visit.
Whether you have a day, a weekend, or more, there are numerous places that you will undoubtedly enjoy. We spent several days in and around Moncton and decided on staying in the city, allowing us to explore the many beautiful spots nearby while enjoying local restaurants and cocktail bars in the evenings. It was truly the best of both worlds!
1.) Moncton Street Art
One of the first things you’ll notice upon arriving in Moncton is its vibrant street art scene. The city has embraced artistic expression, showcasing impressive murals and works from both world-renowned and local artists. Taking a stroll around the city, we found numerous stunning pieces and couldn’t help but admire them.
2.) Hopewell Rocks
Hopewell Rocks is one of New Brunswick’s most iconic attractions and should not be missed during your trip to Moncton. Situated just a 30-minute drive from the city, these massive rock formations have been sculpted by the Bay of Fundy’s impressive tides.
3.) Les Brumes du Coude
One of the delightful aspects of staying in Moncton is the diverse culinary scene. Don’t miss out on dining at Les Brumes du Coude, which offers a delectable French-inspired menu. Their delicious scallops and seared salmon are highly recommended and a must-try!
4.) Parlee Beach and Shediac
Located just a 15-minute drive from Moncton, Parlee Beach Provincial Park is the perfect spot for a day at the coast. It features beautiful white sands and numerous facilities such as picnic areas, campgrounds, and local seafood restaurants.
5.) Bouctouche
Bouctouche, a charming Acadian fishing community, is only 30 minutes from Moncton and definitely worth a visit. Be sure to explore the Dune of Bouctouche, where you can walk along the scenic boardwalk and enjoy stunning views of the beach.
6.) Cape Enrage
Cape Enrage is situated just under an hour from Moncton and is an excellent choice for those looking for adventure. With abundant trails, climbing, and kayaking opportunities, this destination is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Don’t miss the thrilling ziplining experience!
7.) Centennial Park and Jones Lake
Centennial Park is a vast 94-hectare park offering unspoiled forest trails without leaving Moncton. Ideal for running, hiking, or simply enjoying the outdoors, the park also features Treego Moncton, with fun zip lines and treetop courses.
For quieter trails, explore the paths around Johnathan Creek. After a few hours in the park, treat yourself to a delicious wood-fired pizza at Pomodori Pizzeria, which is known for its gelato!
8.) Little Louis
When visiting new cities, experiencing local cuisine is always a highlight. Little Louis is a fine dining restaurant that offers seasonal menus crafted from local ingredients. Don’t skip the dessert – their homemade treats are indulgent and delicious!
9.) Irishtown Nature Park
Irishtown Nature Park is a beautiful habitat located just 10 minutes from Moncton’s center. Perfect for running, hiking, or enjoying a quiet day in nature, this park features wonderful trails that come alive, particularly during summer.
