Notably, Charles Darwin spent his formative years in Shrewsbury, and the town brims with historical significance, inviting exploration along its streets and riverbanks.

Surrounded by the River Severn, it has served as a stronghold for many generations of local elite, frequented by notable historical figures during its extensive operational history.
Presently, it houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum, making it an excellent location for a leisurely stroll and to see remnants of its historical significance.

6.) Boating along the River Severn
With its scenic River Severn surroundings, Shrewsbury boasts a multitude of riverbank footpaths and trails waiting to be traversed. Should you prefer a relaxing experience, consider boarding Sabrina, the town’s riverboat offering scenic tours.
Departing from Victoria Quay and lasting approximately 45 minutes to an hour, this charming ride sails towards the English Bridge before returning to the Welsh Bridge adjacent to the town center.
Additionally, bear in mind that the boat tour season typically runs from March to October.
7.) Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery

Situated approximately five miles east of Shrewsbury, Wroxeter Roman City is a remarkable site brimming with Roman heritage, ideal for those intrigued by history.
Established in 55 AD, this archaeological site was once among the most significant towns in Roman England, rivaling the size of Italy’s renowned Pompeii.
While it has diminished in size over time, the well-preserved ruins are captivating to witness. Visitors can explore a reconstructed townhouse, visit the museum, and admire the ancient baths and fortifications that have survived for millennia.
