Paris is undeniably one of the most desirable destinations to explore. The city offers numerous enjoyable activities, ranging from visiting the Eiffel Tower to discovering some of the finest markets and hidden gems.
Paris truly has something for everyone.
To ensure your visit is rich with experiences, I would like to highlight some of the most remarkable and enjoyable activities in Paris.
1.) Wander through the Catacombs
2.) Watch the sunrise over Sacré-Cœur
Sacré-Cœur, completed in the early 20th Century, is a beautiful site renowned for its panoramic views of the city. To avoid crowds, visiting early in the morning is recommended, as it opens at 6 a.m., coinciding perfectly with sunrise.
For an engaging experience, consider partaking in a guided tour of the Montmartre area. It alleviates the stresses of navigating on your own, and the guides are exceptionally knowledgeable.
3.) Wander around Château de Chantilly
Located just north of Paris within Chantilly Forest, the Château de Chantilly is a splendid extraordinary place reflecting the region’s rich history.
This charming commune offers a peaceful respite from the bustling city, making it a perfect half-day getaway. With a less than 25-minute train ride from Gare du Nord, the journey feels like stepping into another world.
When visiting, roam through the stunning architecture, indulge in pastries and coffee, or even venture on horseback. The setting is genuinely delightful.
4.) Grab Cheeses from Marché Bastille
One of the notable Parisian markets is Marché Bastille, an essential visit while exploring the city’s culinary delights.
The market operates on Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. While these hours may vary, it’s an excellent place to acquire local cheeses and wine. Sampling the local flavors is truly a pleasurable way to engage with the city, making it one of the most enjoyable activities in Paris.
5.) See a concert at Philharmonie
For music enthusiasts, the Philharmonie is an exceptional destination.
Situated in the northeast of the city within Parc de Villette, this venue hosts outstanding symphonic performances from around the globe. Do take note that planning is essential; check the schedule and listings before a visit.
6.) See the Statue of Liberty
7.) Go inside the Museum of History and Medicine
The Museum of the History of Medicine, over a century old, presents an intriguing and considerably different concept compared to the Louvre.
This museum is located within the historical Université de Paris-Descartes Faculty of Medicine. Although it is an exceptional stop for museum enthusiasts, it may not be the most leisurely experience for those not particularly interested in medical history.
8.) View Paris Through A Clockface
Gaze through the clockface at the Musée d’Orsay to experience a unique perspective of Paris.
From this vantage point, you’ll witness several iconic landmarks, including the silhouette of Sacré-Cœur. This experience is subtly unique and remains relatively unknown among visitors.
9.) Find proof that the earth spins
Head over to the Panthéon to observe a life-sized replica of the original pendulum experiment (now located at the Musée des Arts et Métiers), allowing you to explore this fascinating scientific demonstration.
Beyond the pendulum, the building itself is breathtaking and merits exploration while strolling through the city center.
10.) Walk over an old prison
Crossing the River Seine, Pont Concord Bridge is an inconspicuous 18th-century structure that carries significant historical value.
Remarkably, this bridge was built with remnants from the infamous Bastille Prison, providing a unique experience as you walk over the remains of a historic prison.
After your crossing, consider a brief stop at the Palais Bourbon, which features classical architecture. On select days, guided tours may be available for a deeper understanding of its significance.
