Experience in Geneva
We arrived in Geneva on a splendidly sunny day, which prompted us to quickly check into our hotel and embark on an exploration of this captivating city immediately!
Local Cuisine
We enjoyed a delightful meal at Café Gallay after meandering through the charming streets of Geneva until our appetites called for attention.
Adventurous Paragliding
Following a leisurely evening of relaxation, wine, and enjoyment of the city’s ambiance, we awoke early the next day, eager to further explore Geneva. However, the weather was uncooperative; the sunshine had given way to rain. Fortunately, it was just light enough to allow us to enjoy our adventures, as we had grown accustomed to similar conditions back home in London.
After breakfast, we journeyed to Carouge, a picturesque district in Geneva, where the rain lessened, permitting us to meander through its delightful streets.
Our wanderings led us to Valmandin, a café highly praised by locals. Not only does it serve remarkable coffee, but it also offers a variety of global coffee beans for sampling and purchase.
After savoring some espressos and returning with several bags of coffee beans, our quest continued as we sought out renowned Swiss chocolate.
We considerably enjoyed chocolate from Philippe Pascoët, and soon after, we were preparing for our paragliding adventure—an experience I had awaited eagerly yet apprehensively due to my lack of prior experience.
We hopped into our guide’s vehicle, crossing the border into France, heading to Mont-Salève where we would take flight.
The view atop Mont-Salève was astounding, serving as a distraction from my anxiety as we strapped in for our experience. In a swift action that took us by surprise, we found ourselves running off the mountainside, the glider catching the breeze well before we even neared the edge.
As we soared above the landscape, experiencing a stunning aerial view of Geneva, my initial fears faded into exhilaration.
After successfully landing and sharing a hearty laugh born from adrenaline, we decided it was time for a leisurely lunch by the River Rhône, where we indulged in a delightful picnic amidst serene surroundings.
Lunch was a refreshing interlude, providing an ideal setting to unwind and contemplate our exciting day, making me regret not having my swimming gear for a dip in the inviting waters.
After lunch, we ventured to La Jonction, where the Rhone and Arve rivers converge—a remarkable sight to witness both contrasting rivers side by side.
This picturesque scene marked the conclusion of a remarkable day filled with adventure and exploration in Geneva, leaving us with unforgettable memories.
