For many visitors, Siem Reap serves as the gateway to the largest collection of religious structures ever constructed – the Angkor complex.
We carefully considered whether to fly or take the bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap. We were eager to take the bus since it’s more environmentally friendly. However, we were deterred by the scams reported at the Thai-Cambodian border. Ultimately, we opted for the bus because we determined that the worst-case scenario would be losing a few bucks to a crafty scammer.
Angkor served as the historical capital of the magnificent Khmer Empire. Located within Siem Reap, it represents an exceptional destination to explore. Rich in stunning architectural designs, reflecting Khmer culture, and, of course, the breathtaking temples, Siem Reap is undoubtedly a destination of great significance when visiting this remarkable country.
During our residency in Singapore, I would frequently ponder potential travel destinations, with places like Phnom Penh and Siem Reap recurrently surfacing in our discussions.
