It serves as both a fun destination to explore on its own and a convenient base for visiting nearby Hearst Castle and the stunning California coastline from Morro Bay to Ragged Point.
San Luis Obispo County extends from Ragged Point north of Hearst Castle down the coast to the Guadalupe Dunes south of Pismo Beach. Part of the coastline is off-limits, occupied by the Diablo Canyon nuclear-generating plant (which is being decommissioned). Nonetheless, along the remaining miles, you’ll discover a wide variety of beaches that are perfect for a visit. These beaches are organized in geographical order from north to south.
