Summary
Introduction
Following our itinerary for exploring Bali, after visiting magnificent temples and breathtaking waterfalls, we opted for a day dedicated entirely to relaxation. I recommended spending this day at the beach, specifically at Sundays Beach Club in Bali.
However, my companions needed some persuasion.
Sundays Beach Club Overview
Beaches in Bali can vary significantly; a well-chosen location can be stunning, while a poor choice may leave you at an unsightly venue plagued by aggressive souvenir vendors.
Upon a trusted recommendation, we decided to visit Sundays Beach Club in Bali. Situated roughly 1 to 2 hours from Ubud, we initially intended to take a taxi to the club and back. However, given the transportation costs, we chose to utilize our villa driver for the day.
Despite his insistence on remaining close by, we preferred for him to leave us to enjoy the beach until it was time for our return.
Contrary to the name, Sundays Beach Club operates every day of the week, which is a pleasant surprise.
Entry Fee and Facilities
Moreover, it is among the few beaches that charge an entry fee. Being part of a hotel, it offers a more exclusive experience compared to some public beaches.
Previously, the entry fee was provided as a credit for the bar or restaurant, but this has since changed. Now, half of the fee contributes to water sports activities (like stand-up paddleboarding and snorkeling equipment), while the other half goes toward credit at the establishment’s bar or restaurant.
Enjoying Cocktails
Upon arriving at Sundays Beach Club, any trepidation I had about overselling the venue vanished as we took in the stunning views; it was precisely what we sought.
We quickly settled in and ordered cocktails.
Georgia and I chose cocktails, while Lloyd and Chris opted for beers, although Lloyd soon switched to mixed drinks.
Initially, we believed the cocktails to be refreshing but not excessively potent.
However, upon standing to retrieve lunch, we realized our bartender was indeed correct; they were quite strong!
Paddleboarding Experience
After wobbling to our lunch table, we soon soberly enjoyed an extraordinary meal — perhaps more than one should admit to consuming in a single sitting.
We filled the afternoon with lively splashing in the waves, relaxing with further cocktails, and eventually switching to wine, thoroughly relishing our time under the sun. Sundays Beach Club in Bali provided an unparalleled experience of bliss.
As sunset approached, with spirits heightened, we decided to take on stand-up paddleboarding. Our attempts to fit more individuals onto one board ignited fits of laughter as we sequentially added members until we realized three was simply too many.
Sunset Views
Selecting the right moment, the beautiful Balinese sunset graced us, a sight that no amount of wine could diminish in its beauty. It served as a perfect farewell to an enchanting day and a delightful start to an exciting evening.
Conclusion
As night fell, Sundays Beach Club continued its vibrant atmosphere with dinner service in full swing, allowing guests to leave at their leisure.
We maximized every moment before finally deciding to conclude our day.
The night’s festivities continued in our private infinity pool, framed by the tranquil jungle landscape — though the details were somewhat fuzzy upon our return.
Days like this capture the essence of Bali, blending culture and sightseeing with ample relaxation.
Our experience at Sundays Beach Club in Bali was one we will cherish.
