The following morning at Velassaru confirmed that the sunshine was persistently illuminating the island (it had rained intermittently during our initial days in the Maldives, primarily in the evenings for brief periods).
This morning, my only intentions post-breakfast were to indulge in a spa treatment followed by leisure time in the pool.
The spa treatments provided were exceptional. Although it is generally advised to remain awake during such treatments, I found it immensely relaxing and inadvertently napped towards the end.
After the massage, we settled by the pool with chilled beverages, effectively turning leisure into an aspirational art form.
Determined to engage in snorkeling prior to lunch (as scuba diving post-lunch is generally inadvisable), I ventured off for some underwater exploration.
Lunch was scheduled by the jetty, where I opted for coconut shrimp as an appetizer (Lloyd made the same choice), followed by the lamb shank as my main dish (my order is consistent when lamb is available on the menu).
The dining delightedly continued as Lloyd selected the increasingly favored Maldivian chicken curry, concluding with churros (a tantalizing variation of Spanish doughnuts) served with three different sauces: chocolate, caramel, and a creamy mixture (the specifics elude me, however, the caramel was undeniably my favorite).
Eventually, it was time to bid farewell to Velassaru Maldives, cherishing the cherished memories and sublime experiences created on the island.
