However, discovering the opportunity to stay in a castle, or more accurately, a “French Chateau,” makes this venture remarkably appealing.

Previously, when seeking grand historic homes for overnight stays, I would have normally explored options on Airbnb. However, the vast array of listings on such platforms, encompassing all types and price ranges of homes, makes it challenging to locate a truly decadent castle in France among the myriad choices.
Experience Chateau De Montastruc
Before embarking on my trip to Bordeaux, I learned about Oliver’s Travels. It wasn’t until this short getaway that I finally utilized their service for accommodation—essentially a platform like Airbnb where owners manage remarkable properties, with support to help in finding and securing your stay.
Our first accommodation in Bordeaux was the magnificent Chateau De Montastruc!

In summary, after discovering Oliver’s Travels, we reserved a couple of accommodations in Bordeaux, along with exploring the Dordogne Valley and Bergerac, followed by an enjoyable wine-filled weekend in France.
Exploring Nearby Vineyards
Upon arrival at the stunning Chateau, I was immediately captivated. The structure stood majestically atop a steep hill, showcasing our fortunate discovery through Oliver’s Travels!
The chateau is an expansive marvel that inspires exploration, encouraging guests to roam and capture photographs at every turn. However, the layout is almost labyrinthine, making it easy to feel overwhelmed by its grandeur.
Additionally, the chateau offers more rooms than one might need, yet who could complain? For however long your stay allows, you can genuinely relish the extraordinary experience of residing in a French castle!
After an hour exploring and still insisting on viewing more—particularly after discovering the cellars located en route to the pool (which I sadly never had time to swim in)—we decided to venture for some wine tasting at a nearby vineyard, Château de Tiregand Creysse, not far from our chateau.
As we delved into the vineyard experience, I realized that regardless of the season, visiting vineyards proves enjoyable. While I do appreciate touring the vines, I typically find myself gravitating inside—often navigating through cellars to indulge in wine tasting. Ultimately, it is the tasting that truly excites me; everything else is simply a delightful addition!
This experience led to purchasing several bottles of exquisite red wine from the vineyard, a few of which sadly didn’t last long once we returned home. 😊
