St. John’s Antigua: A Capture of Caribbean Evenings

A visit to Antigua is not complete without exploring St John’s, the capital of the island.

I arrived during a less conventional time compared to most tourists on the island, which was unintentional on my part; I simply happened to have rented a vehicle and decided to utilize it fully. The experience that awaited was a vibrant amalgamation of sounds, sights, and colors. The lively atmosphere in St John’s was markedly different from the tranquil resort ambiance I had become accustomed to over the previous days, and I must confess, I found it quite invigorating. Initially, I felt unsure and resisted the urge to photograph anything, attempting to immerse myself in the environment (hence the absence of images from the marketplace or main thoroughfares). However, after a brief moment, I acclimated and began to relish the vitality of the capital city.

Upon returning to St John’s for a brief thirty minutes in the morning a few days later, it felt markedly different. Without a doubt, late evening is undoubtedly the most exhilarating time to explore St John’s. However, it is advisable to consult your accommodation in advance, as nighttime travel may require caution. Alternatively, if you arrive via cruise ship, this allows you more flexibility in your plans.
