Under The Dome And Into The Forest… In Singapore, Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, Gardens By The Bay
While my enthusiasm for botanical gardens is somewhat restrained, it is not due to any lack of aesthetic appeal or charm. My limited knowledge of flowers renders me somewhat inept in appreciating their diversity fully. I can identify common varieties, such as roses, orchids, and lilies, yet beyond that, my expertise diminishes. For instance, if tasked to select hydrangeas at a florist, I would be utterly lost. Similar ignorance extends to my understanding of birds; while I can recognize a handful, like chickens and flamingos, I struggle to distinguish between less familiar species such as falcons and hawks.
During our time in Singapore, the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest emerged as a recurring suggestion on various itineraries. Consequently, I decided it would be worthwhile to visit, especially given the forecast of impending rain, which warranted seeking refuge indoors.
The high temperatures in Singapore contributed to a sense of overheating by the time we arrived. Upon entering the Cloud Forest, I was greeted with a rush of cool air from the air-conditioning, and without pause, I practically rushed inside, grateful for the respite from the heat. It is important to note that entry to both the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest is priced at SGD28 for non-residents and SGD20 for residents.
It is indeed more effective to allow the photographs to convey the ambiance and features of the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, as I find it challenging to articulate the experience adequately. We will begin with the Cloud Forest…
In conclusion, despite my initial reluctance towards visiting a botanical garden, I found myself surprisingly impressed by the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. While I do not categorize it solely as a destination to observe flowers, it certainly offers a pleasurable environment to relax and unwind—perhaps with a good book in hand, despite the somewhat steep entry fee that accompanies the convenience of such locations in an expensive city like Singapore.
