Summary of Pura Taman Saraswati Temple
Where To Stay
Saraswati Water Temple
Pura Taman Saraswati Temple, commonly known as Saraswati Temple, was built in the 1950s and is dedicated to the Hindu goddess of learning, literature, and art. The intricate details of the traditional Balinese architecture are truly captivating, especially the ornate doorways.
The designs on these doors are incredibly detailed, making it a fascinating Insta photo spot, particularly the west door (shown below).
You can explore the temple in approximately 15 minutes, and entry is free. To avoid crowds, it is advisable to visit during the morning. The temple also hosts a traditional Balinese dance performance every night at 7:30 PM for 100k Rupiah (~$6 USD).
Additionally, there is a restaurant called Lotus Cafe overlooking the pond, though the prices are somewhat higher than average for Bali.
Hours & Fees
- Hours: 7 AM – 5 PM
- Entrance Fee: 50k Rupiah (~$3 USD)
How To Get There
Pura Taman Saraswati Temple is situated in Ubud, conveniently near the main market and town center, right above a Starbucks cafe. It is a mere 5-minute walk from central Ubud, or about a 1-hour drive from other popular areas in southern Bali like Sanur, Canggu, and Kuta.
The most convenient options for transportation include renting a scooter or hiring a private car and driver (these services can be arranged online).

Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental
For those interested in exploring Bali in comfort and safety, I recommend enlisting a private car service with an English-speaking driver from GetYourGuide. Their rates start at 700k Rupiah (~$48 USD) for a full day of driving and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. This price includes the car, driver, and fuel, making it a fantastic offer. They also provide cost-effective airport transfers.
If you prefer to travel by motorbike, options are available as their scooter rentals start at 140k Rupiah (~$9) and come complete with a helmet, raincoat, and free delivery in the southern Bali area.
We’ve used GetYourGuide for numerous tours and activities globally, and I highly recommend their services!
