History of the Feast of San Gennaro in LA

Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla at the Feast of San Gennaro in 2005.

In 2002, notable Italian Americans including Jimmy Kimmel, whose heritage is Italian, and Doug DeLuca, Co-Executive Producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, initiated the LA festival in a parking lot near Capitol Records. The event quickly gained popularity, attracting various Italian American celebrities such as Tony Danza and Tommy Lasorda. In 2004, the festival expanded to a larger venue near the Grove shopping complex but returned to Hollywood in 2006. Currently, the event is situated just south of Hollywood Blvd at Highland and Hawthorne, maximizing the festival’s space to accommodate its growing attendance.

Despite some budget-related reductions since 2014, the festival continues to celebrate its Italian heritage, attracting families and food lovers alike.
