Introduction
Upon arriving at the Canary Islands, my expectations were unclear. Located off the coast of Africa, near Morocco, the islands are well-known for their favorable climate, but beyond that, I was uncertain about what experiences awaited me.
Arrival in Fuerteventura
The dramatic landscapes instantly capture one’s attention upon arrival. This long stretch leading to the volcano provides breathtaking views that could easily be mistaken for Iceland, yet with a decidedly warmer atmosphere.
Upon checking into our hotel, we decided to forego our itinerary and instead enjoy leisure time by the pool with refreshing beverages. This alteration in our travel approach felt both liberating and refreshing, allowing us to unwind without the urgency to explore immediately.
Exploration of Lobos Island
The following morning, we arose early and made our way to the pier where a boat excursion was awaiting us to discover the island. The first sight of the crystalline blue waters of the Atlantic, reminiscent of the Caribbean, is virtually unforgettable.
We proceeded to explore Lobos Island, which remains largely uninhabited. It serves as an exceptional location for a leisurely afternoon of exploration, complete with opportunities for snorkeling, sunshine, and enjoying rum beverages!
Conclusion
In conclusion, my time in Fuerteventura was marked by enjoyable experiences amidst a profoundly captivating environment. After our snorkeling excursion and delightful moments shared with friends, I left with cherished memories of the beauty of the Canary Islands and the warmth of its surroundings.
