Overview of Phoenix Convention Center
Phoenix Convention Center is a vast facility that underwent significant expansion in 2008, tripling its original size. As the largest ballroom in Arizona and among the largest convention spaces in the United States, it’s often still referred to by its former name, Phoenix Civic Plaza. This venue not only hosts various conferences and conventions, but it is also a hub for numerous public events and trade shows throughout the year, such as bridal shows, home shows, auto shows, and sports experiences. Notable past events include Presidential Debates, MLB, NBA, NFL, and WWE events. Furthermore, the convention center was the heart of the NFL Experience in the lead-up to the 2015 Super Bowl. Regularly scheduled events include:
- Arizona International Auto Show
- Phoenix Comicon
Popular Events Hosted
- Arizona Science Center
- Children’s Museum of Phoenix
- Arizona Center and AMC Arizona Center Movies
- CityScape
- Talking Stick Resort Arena (formerly US Airways Center)
- Chase Field
The Phoenix Convention Center also manages two notable venues in downtown: Symphony Hall, home to the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, and Ballet Arizona, along with the historic Orpheum Theatre.
Parking Information
Finding street parking can be challenging. Typically, you would need to search several blocks away, particularly south of the Phoenix Convention Center in a more industrial downtown area. However, there are options for covered garage parking available. Parking fees usually range from $10 to $25, influenced by the event and other activities occurring in Downtown Phoenix. It is advisable to know the exact entrance for your event, as the South Hall is several blocks from the North Hall.
Additionally, be mindful of parking meters located close to the venue. They are operational seven days a week, with no exceptions for free parking on weekends or holidays. Meters run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and while most accept credit cards, having some quarters on hand is advisable.
