During the 45-minute guided tour, trained volunteers highlight essential pieces of Oklahoma’s historical narrative, including the fact that this is the only capital featuring a working oil well on its premises. The architectural marvel showcases Greco-Roman design and comprises 650 rooms filled with stunning marble floors, hand-painted ceilings, historic portraits of notable Oklahomans, and various artworks. Notable features include the newly added dome.

Outside, the Oklahoma Veterans Memorial stands as a tribute to those who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

While the capital complex itself does not have full-service restaurants, there are convenient snack bars located in the basement and the fourth floor, serving candy, soda, and sandwiches. For a more substantial meal, take NE 23rd west where you’ll find excellent dining options including Cheever’s Cafe, Pizzeria Gusto, and Tucker’s Onion Burgers. Additionally, numerous fast-food establishments are in the vicinity, and many restaurants in Bricktown or Midtown are a short drive away.

Location & Parking

The Oklahoma State Capitol is situated at NE 23rd and Lincoln Boulevard. To reach the site, take I-235 and exit eastbound on NE 23rd. Clear signage will direct you to Lincoln Boulevard and the designated parking areas.

For those scheduling capitol tours, it is recommended to use the south parking lot. Parking is complimentary; however, the area can become congested when the legislature is in session.
