Content Overview
Introduction
Following a restful night at Weingut Holzapfel-Prandtauerhof and a slightly hurried breakfast, we set out to discover the Wachau by hiking through its stunning landscapes.

Hiking the Wachau World Heritage Trail
The World Heritage trail is recognized as one of the premier hiking routes in the Wachau Valley.

Visit to Melk Abbey
As we progressed from the village of Weißenkirchen towards Spitz, every viewpoint presented a delightful sight, affirming the trail’s beauty.

Practical Tips for Hiking
- The trail is comfortably navigable and exceptionally well-signposted, most of which can be traversed via well-maintained paths suitable for cyclists and hikers alike.
- Bring sufficient water; the hike typically lasts around 3.5 hours, or longer if you stop for photographs.
- There exists an application specific to this hiking route; we utilized one in German, but make sure to download it before arriving since it is quite beneficial.
- There is no requirement to return via the same hike; from Spitz, a bus can be taken, which usually takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach Weißenkirchen.
Conclusion
Our journey concluded with a lunch at Gasthof Goldenes Schiff in Spitz, where we savored a hearty meal, perfectly complemented by a glass of local wine after our long hike.
