Explore the 50 Windows of Creativity Art Trail in Manchester
There’s good news for art lovers in Manchester who are missing their fix of color and beauty, as a new open-air art trail has launched featuring 60 artworks spread across 50 locations. The 50 Windows of Creativity trail is a self-guided project that has transformed the British city into a massive open-air gallery.
What to Expect from the Art Trail
The trail showcases the work of artists and makers displayed in windows, venues, businesses, and public spaces across the city center. Multiple art forms are exhibited, including:
- Fine art
- Photography
- Ceramics
- Crafts
- Mosaics
- Murals
Moreover, these artworks are curated by both established and emerging artists, designers, makers, and collectives, all having a connection to Greater Manchester. Consequently, every piece on display is available for purchase directly from the artist or maker.
Community Engagement and Safety Measures
The trail has been developed through a partnership between Manchester City Council and Wild in Art. Since the displays are located or can be viewed outdoors, they can be enjoyed by those living in or near Manchester city center, all while adhering to government guidelines. Therefore, visitors are encouraged to maintain a safe distance and wear face coverings where appropriate.
The team is also working on enhancing the trail’s online digital presence, enabling those unable to visit in person to appreciate the artwork during any lockdown restrictions.
Get Involved and Contribute
The project culminates with an auction on December 10, featuring a selection of pieces, with proceeds going to their respective artists and makers, alongside 25% contributing to the We Love MCR Charity that supports disadvantaged communities and individuals. Additionally, Wild in Art invites the public to unleash their creativity at home by downloading the window template from their website starting November 9, allowing individuals to submit their artwork for inclusion in a virtual global gallery.
