Meow Wolf is stepping into the grocery business. Next year, the company behind Santa Fe’s blockbuster art installation will launch its first market in Las Vegas, promising an experience that will be as trippy as the original.
Named Omega Mart, this expansive 52,000 sq foot space will be Meow Wolf’s second permanent installation after the House of Eternal Return in New Mexico. The initial announcements describe “an even richer storyline with elevated narrative and technical elements,” along with a selection of products boasting “an uncanny ability to fulfill desires beyond expectation.”
Scheduled to open in early 2021, Omega Mart is anticipated to offer anything but a mundane shopping experience, as indicated by a teaser video featuring magical meat, nebula loaf, and a few intriguingly odd items resembling human organs.
“Our exhibit will bring storytelling alive through a hands-on experience of art,” said Omega Mart’s senior creative producer, Marsi Gray. “By collaborating with artists local to Las Vegas and from around the world—along with our dedicated team of storytellers, fabricators, and artists in Santa Fe—we are creating an unforgettable experience.”
This installation will serve as a cornerstone of the AREA15 experiential retail and entertainment complex. Furthermore, it marks the company’s third location following its 2019 expansion to Denver, where the world’s first artist-driven ride was unveiled. The project involves over 50 global artists—combining visual and musical talents—alongside many creatives, including local residents like Eric Vozzola and renowned artists such as Amon Tobin and Claudia Bueno. Co-founders Corvas Brinkerhoff and Emily Montoya lead the creative team.
“We are at the innovative edge of what entertainment can be. Our goal is to create transformative experiences,” Gray stated. “Visitors of all ages can anticipate something entirely new from Meow Wolf’s beloved House of Eternal Return, while also immersing themselves in extraordinary worlds filled with story, humor, and spectacle if they accept our invitation—to play.” For more information, visit omegamart.com.
