A teal velvet armchair draped with an orange cashmere blanket, Assouline art books on a Chinoiserie tea table, and a Classical nude standing on a geometric colorblock carpet exemplify the intentional design at J.K. Place Paris. This newly opened hotel masterfully combines Left Bank eccentricity with Italian bella figura.

Hotel Design and Aesthetic

In the lobby, a black marble clawfoot fireplace framed with spear-shaped red-leather wall sconces, crafted by Jacques Adnet, sets the stage. The hotel boasts hundreds of objects collected from Parisian markets, including Chinese theater costumes and a mirrored chest by David Hicks. This eclectic aesthetic is a hallmark of J.K. Place properties.

The Paris townhouse is the fourth project by hotelier Ori Kafri and his first property outside Italy. Each room reflects the artful vision of renowned Florentine architect Michele Bönan. To furnish this exquisite former government building in the 7th Arrondissement, Bönan and his team meticulously curated items over three years.

The Inspiration Behind J.K. Place

Kafri’s admiration for boutique hotels inspired him to create a unique environment at J.K. Place. “I fell in love with hospitality as a student,” he shares. Traveling was a staple in his family, and following his father’s dream of opening a hotel set the foundation for his career.

J.K. Place Firenze opened in 2003 as Kafri’s homage to Italian hospitality, followed by properties in Capri and Rome, each earning a loyal clientele for luxury and warmth.

Why Choose Paris?

Many wonder why Kafri chose Paris for his latest venture. “It’s not ‘Why Paris?’ It’s ‘Why not?’” he emphasizes. Paris serves as a benchmark for hotel brands, offering an endless source of inspiration. His emotional connection to the city traces back to family trips and a profound moment he experienced at the Arc de Triomphe.

J.K. Place, a discreet entrance on Rue de Lille, marks a significant addition to the luxury hotel landscape, particularly in the bohemian Rive Gauche. Kafri aims to provide a warm Italian ambiance in a city often regarded for its expansive and grand hotel establishments.

Unique Room Features

Each of the 29 rooms boasts a distinct character while adhering to Kafri and Bönan’s innovative design philosophy. “The hotel should evoke the feeling of gathered treasures from travels,” Kafri states. Each room features handmade Italian beds, concealed luggage spaces, and luxurious amenities like Dyson hair dryers and quality toiletries.
