Key Insights from Two Years of Blogging Success

We are delighted to announce that GoTravelDaily commemorates its second anniversary. Although this milestone was reached almost a month ago, our recent travels and my propensity for procrastination delayed this announcement until now.

While many may express disbelief, we genuinely find it remarkable to reflect on how far we’ve come since our blog’s inception. GoTravelDaily has expanded significantly, fostering valuable friendships and affording us extraordinary experiences along the journey. This platform has enabled us to connect with fellow travelers worldwide, sharing our experiences—a privilege we cherish greatly.

10 Important Things To Remember Today! (1)

The inception of our blog stemmed from years of travel, during which we accumulated a vast collection of photographs (a tendency of mine, being an avid photograph enthusiast—I even retain the first photos captured with my initial camera phone, the Nokia 3200). Launching a blog appeared to be an optimal solution for archiving and disseminating these images rather than relying on traditional platforms like Facebook. Reflecting on it, the concept of travel blogging remains fundamentally akin to the practices of several decades ago when individuals would travel, return home, and share developed photos with loved ones over meals and drinks. The only transformation has been the medium through which these experiences are shared, which is now facilitated by the internet.

Fast forward to the present, where more than 450,000 individuals visit our modest blog monthly to explore our experiences and share their own insights.

In addition, we are grateful to the over 527,000 individuals with whom we have connected across various social media platforms. I owe this growing connection to you for my new (albeit not entirely new) phone addiction and my spontaneous moments of laughter upon encountering your delightful messages and comments during our travels. This ongoing engagement with our audience is truly astonishing, and we wish to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU! Your supportive comments, messages, and feedback consistently uplift us, and we sincerely appreciate your contributions.

Having strayed from the main topic of this post, I shall now refocus. Without overthinking, here are significant lessons learned from two years of blogging:

Key Lessons Learned from Two Years of Blogging

    • Diversity in Travel: There are numerous styles of travel—be it solo, group, adventure, or leisure by the beach—all forms of travel are valid as long as they bring joy!
    • Open-Mindedness: Avoid forming preconceptions about a destination prior to visiting. An open mind fosters genuine appreciation. For instance, one should not expect Cape Town to mirror Marrakesh or vice versa.
    • Budget is Not a Restriction: Although travel necessitates financial resources, enjoyable experiences are attainable on any budget. One does not need to travel in luxury or across vast distances to truly experience the essence of travel.
    • Embracing Imperfection: Do not await perfection before initiating a new endeavor. This waiting can hinder progress. Commence your aspirations and adapt as you go; every journey begins with a single step.
    • Value of Home: Sometimes, the desire to relax at home and enjoy quality time with family and friends, while indulging in a favorite series, is perfectly acceptable. Coming home is a crucial part of the travel experience.
    • Hand Luggage is Not Exclusive: While we often travel with only hand luggage, certain circumstances warrant checked luggage!
    • Commitment to Improvement: To enhance personal skills, time and effort must be invested. Progress in photography, language, or even dance requires dedication.
    • Authenticity Matters: Stay true to yourself. While it is natural to admire others, aiming to replicate someone else’s persona may dilute your uniqueness. Engaging with individual perspectives gives rise to fresh insights.
    • Importance of Rest: Prioritize adequate sleep. A refreshed demeanor can profoundly influence your outlook and experiences.
    • Support from the Community: We emphasize our appreciation for you—your encouragement, empowerment, and support resonate deeply. Through your kindness, we have been inspired to pursue our aspirations, and our community is enriched by your presence.
