It must be noted that leisurely days in Ibiza feel almost obligatory.
Regardless of your location on the island or the purpose of your visit, a relaxed atmosphere prevails during the daytime in Ibiza, swiftly followed by a vibrant, exuberant energy during the nights. This experience stands in stark contrast to everyday life, but it is precisely what you sought, correct? 😉
After an enjoyable day replete with cocktails and pool relaxation at the Migjorn Ibiza, we opted to revisit a familiar favorite in Ibiza – Cala Comte.
Cala Comte is an incredibly picturesque beach during the day, featuring several excellent restaurants and bars within easy reach. Notably, it is crucial to experience the breathtaking sunsets when visiting Ibiza.
The sun radiates more brilliantly from this view point, and witnessing its paradoxical intensification as it descends over the horizon is truly remarkable!
However, be aware that this location tends to attract a substantial number of sunset enthusiasts, so arriving early is advisable to secure a suitable viewing spot. 🙂
Following our sunset viewing, we proceeded to explore what was expected to be an exceptional discovery in Ibiza – Mar a Vila restaurant, situated in the heart of Ibiza’s historic area, renowned for its commendations from both locals and visitors.
This assertion is not unfounded; this establishment ranks number 15 amid the 437 restaurants in Ibiza, placing it in the top 3% category.
Upon arrival, we proceeded to the outdoor terrace, which was enclosed at the time, and promptly commenced our dining experience with the cocktails…
…which were soon followed by a selection of cured meats, cheeses, and a touch of pistachio!
Undoubtedly, I have a strong appreciation for Spanish ham! *licks lips*
We initiated our experience with a bespoke wooden box, which housed a unique and surprisingly delightful offering…
…nut-covered black pudding, accompanied by two delightful dips.
I must admit, I have traditionally not been fond of black pudding, which led to initial skepticism. Nevertheless, all doubts vanished with the very first bite!
These moments serve as a reminder never to judge something solely by its appearance; ordinarily, I would have overlooked this on a menu, and I am grateful that I did not!
We then transitioned to a picnic box containing the tasting menu, which is increasingly becoming my preferred option at any dining establishment due to the element of surprise it offers. Our excitement mirrored that of children during Christmas as we eagerly unwrapped the boxes as soon as feasible!
The picnic box introduced an array of thin breads, apple slices, and crisp breads… along with foie and preserves!
A delightful picnic combination!
Subsequently, we transitioned to a dish of grilled octopus, which I thoroughly enjoyed… (yes, I may have had an extra bite when Lloyd wasn’t looking).
We then enjoyed crispy crackling with tomatoes served in a dip, which was eventually overshadowed by my favorite dish…
…miniature lamb kebabs!!! Shredded lamb, small bread holders (this is a personal term) paired with mini vegetables!
The experience was simply outstanding!!!
We took a brief intermission before dessert to enjoy a palate-cleansing cocktail referred to as a lazy donkey! This is a Spanish variation of the Russian mule and is utterly delightful (it is deceptively easy to consume! 😉)
Even the dessert arrived in a cocktail-inspired form, featuring cake and ice cream complemented by a delectable fruity and creamy liqueur…
… and finished off with mint and vanilla ice cream, complemented by chocolate pieces.
A brief interlude occurred during the proceedings for one or two digestifs…
