How to Get to Bottle Beach
Bottle Beach is situated on the northern segment of Koh Phangan.
The most effective method to reach the beach is to hire a longtail boat from Chaloklum Beach or Haad Khom Beach. The boat journey takes approximately 15 minutes and costs around 150 baht (~$5 USD) per individual, each way.
Alternatively, one can drive to the beach, although the road is quite challenging, and the final segment typically necessitates a 2-kilometer (1 mile) trek unless you are equipped with a 4×4 vehicle.
The third option involves a trek to Bottle Beach from Haad Khom Beach, which requires about 1-2 hours one way. After hiking, a boat back is available if fatigue sets in, but note that the final boats depart at 5 PM.
Bottle Beach Viewpoint
Upon completing your beach exploration, a worthwhile viewpoint awaits atop the hill, providing comprehensive visibility of the surrounding area.
The trailhead for the Bottle Beach viewpoint is situated behind one of the local food vendors in the central beach area, near the river wash. Look for an improvised sign or inquire with a local resident for directions.
Hiking to the viewpoint typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes uphill. The trail is shaded, however, it remains a steady ascent which may prove strenuous during peak midday heat. It is advisable to carry water!
The hike leads through a lush jungle where lizards may frequently be encountered along the path.
After navigating over large boulders and crawling through gaps in the rocks, you will be greeted with a panoramic vista of Bottle Beach and the surrounding green mountains.
This breathtaking view requires caution, as certain rocky areas are inclined and substantial drop-offs may not be immediately apparent; the altitude can be deceptive!
