Luxury Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk
The Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk is a four-day, 56 km trek that showcases the majestic coast, leading us to the iconic Twelve Apostles. We anticipated a rustic hike, yet the Lodge provided a central haven. Each day, after hikes ranging from 12km to 18km, we returned to the comfort of private rooms, where hot showers and exquisite dinners awaited.
The luxury experience included delectable meals prepared with care, serving both hearty and healthy options. Each dinner was a revelation, often surpassing our expectations, with flavors that could rival top restaurants in Melbourne.
The 12 Apostles Lodge Walk Experience
Upon arrival, we indulged in a satisfying lunch and received care packages for our hike. The Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk equipped us with everything necessary for a successful adventure, from backpacks and raincoats to sunscreen and bug repellent.
The first hike began where the Great Ocean Road meets the Great Ocean Walk. The initial trek was relatively short, roughly 8 km, designed to acclimate us to varying terrains, from narrow trails to secluded sandy beaches.
Our small group, with a mix of inspiring individuals, allowed for a personalized experience. Interestingly, the older couple from England maintained a vigorous pace that motivated us all.
Gorgeous Scenery of the Great Ocean Walk
Each day of hiking offered a fresh experience. One minute we would navigate through lush brush, and the next, we ascended steep staircases leading up cliffs, encountering the diverse landscapes that characterize the Great Ocean Walk. The opportunity to connect with nature was profound; we spotted kangaroos and even a hedgehog during our explorations.
The available options each morning provided an option for endurance walks, enticing participants to embrace the journey fully. Our commitment ensured that we enjoyed breathtaking sunrise walks, a highlight of the trek.
Pampering at Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk
Completing the daily hikes often coincided with the arrival of sweltering heat, making our cold drinks and snacks even more refreshing. The lodge experience allowed for relaxation; we could soak our weary feet in hot bath salts and unwind under the shade as kangaroos frolicked nearby.
After sumptuous four-course dinners curated by our talented chef, our guide shared the next day’s itinerary, ensuring our readiness for the adventures ahead.
Arrival at the Twelve Apostles
After four days of hiking, arriving at the Twelve Apostles proved rewarding. We explored the beach for a closer look before embarking on a breathtaking helicopter tour. This 10-minute flight provided a bird’s-eye view of the natural marvels surrounding the iconic formations.
Post-flight, we walked freely, witnessing the coast from various angles, all while avoiding the major crowds that gathered later in the day. The experience of standing in front of this majestic sight is one that leaves a lasting impression.
