The Golden Valley Waterfall is a hidden gem in the jungles of Munduk, Bali. This waterfall is in the same area as the more well-known Munduk Waterfall, but many travelers actually prefer Golden Valley due to its lesser-known status among tourists. It’s very straightforward to visit, making it a must-add to your North Bali itinerary! This travel guide aims to explain how to reach the waterfall, along with all the necessary information you’ll need before you embark on your journey!

Golden Valley Waterfalls

The waterfall is just a short, easy hike of about 15 minutes down to its base, and you can begin your trek from either side of the river (we opted for the south entrance). When you arrive, you will find a couple of small cafes that sell food and drinks, including locally sourced civet coffee. These spots provide lovely views of the waterfall.

Regarding its height, the waterfall stands approximately 15 meters (50 feet) tall, and the pool beneath is shallow enough to allow visitors to approach closely for fantastic photographs!

Munduk Waterfall Hike

This waterfall can be included in a comprehensive hiking adventure that visits four stunning waterfalls:

  • Golden Valley Waterfall
  • Munduk Waterfall (also known as Red Coral Waterfall)
  • Labuhan Kebo Waterfall
  • Laangan Waterfall (also known as Melanting Waterfall)

You can commence the hike at Golden Valley and culminate at Laangan, or start from the reverse. However, be prepared to dedicate several hours if you choose to cover all four falls!

Entrance Fee

As of 2024, there is no required entry fee at Golden Valley; however, they might request a small donation.

How To Get There

Golden Valley Waterfall is nestled in the Munduk area of north Bali, Indonesia. The drive from Ubud typically takes between 1.5 to 2 hours, while the journey from Singaraja is approximately 1 hour.

The optimal way to reach the waterfall is to rent a scooter or hire a private car and driver. Both options can be conveniently arranged online.

While the parking area is clearly marked along the road, it is not especially spacious, so plan accordingly; only one van can fit along with additional vehicles.

Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental

For those desiring to explore Bali with comfort and safety, my top suggestion would be GetYourGuide, which offers private car rentals with English-speaking drivers.

Prices begin at 700k Rupiah (~$48 USD) for a complete day of driving and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for a group of 1-5 passengers. This rate includes the entire car rental with a driver and petrol! It’s an exceptional deal. They also facilitate affordable airport transfers to your chosen hotel.

If you prefer to navigate Bali on a motorbike, they provide rental options as well. Their scooter rentals start at 140k Rupiah (~$9), including a helmet, raincoat, and complimentary delivery in the south Bali region.

We have utilized GetYourGuide for numerous tours and activities worldwide, and we always have a wonderful experience. They come highly recommended!
