What To Wear To Temples In Bali

When visiting temples in Bali, wearing a sarong is essential. This traditional garment wraps around your waist, and you can usually rent one for a small fee of around 5,000 Rupiah (less than one US Dollar).

If you intend to visit several temples, investing in your own sarong could be a practical choice, as they are quite affordable!

Goa Giri Putri Cave Temple

The Goa Giri cave is located halfway up a hill on the eastern side of Nusa Penida island. You have to climb over 100 steps to reach this intriguing site.

Upon arrival, a Hindu priest performs a purification rite by sprinkling holy water on your forehead. To enter the cave, visitors must crawl through a small opening in the rock, so it’s advisable to travel light.

After navigating the narrow passage for a few meters, the cave opens into a vast chamber with high ceilings. Although the interior has lighting, bringing a flashlight could enhance your experience.

Spooky inside

This expansive cave stretches nearly 300 meters, leading to lush green hills inhabited by monkeys at the opposite end. Inside, you may encounter bats and possibly some spiders. It also serves as a habitat for two endangered species of purplish-orange crabs that exist solely within this cave.

Your visit will undoubtedly be a memorable and unique adventure!

The entrance fee to Pura Goa Giri Putri includes a small charge of 5k Rupiah for renting a sarong, followed by a ‘donation’ for entering the cave temple, which we found reasonable at 10k each.
