Wat Koh Tao Temple
Wat Koh Tao temple is a modern Buddhist temple located on the island of Koh Tao in Thailand. Established in May 2018, it is the only Buddhist temple of its kind on the island. The elegant Thai architectural style offers stunning backdrops for photography, and visitors are not required to adhere to strict dress codes while walking around or capturing images from the exterior. While I chose not to enter the main building, many visitors do so respectfully, provided they dress modestly.
Entrance Fees
As of 2019, there are no entrance fees to visit Wat Koh Tao. This makes it an accessible option for travelers looking to explore the spiritual side of Koh Tao without any financial burden.
How To Get There
The temple is conveniently situated on the west side of Koh Tao island, just a 5-minute walk from the main pier and the bustling tourist areas surrounding Sairee Beach. Additionally, many local establishments offer scooter rentals for approximately 150 Baht ($5 USD), making it easy to explore the island at your leisure.

Where We Stayed
During our visit, we opted for accommodation at Aukotan Place in the southern part of Koh Tao. Priced at $25 USD, we enjoyed a spacious double room equipped with efficient air conditioning, a hot shower, and reliable WiFi. This hotel also offers a complimentary buffet breakfast and provides convenient daily transfers to and from the pier and Sairee Beach, which proved to be incredibly useful. Additionally, scooter rentals are available at reasonable rates.
The location of Aukotan Place is ideal, situated within a 15-minute walking distance from Freedom Beach, Shark Bay, and the renowned John Suwan Viewpoint. Note that accommodation prices may vary, so it is advisable to be vigilant for favorable deals.
