Table Mountain has been a significant attraction for many travelers, including myself. It left a profound impression on me the first time I arrived in Cape Town. I have numerous blurry airplane photos to testify to my excitement.
Following our fascinating day with the penguins and that mesmerizing drive across the Cape Peninsula, we returned to Cape Town under the cover of night, which sounds dramatic, but we really arrived around 8 PM.
Our accommodation was at The Glen, a wonderful discovery thanks to Lloyd. The service was exceptional, and the welcoming nature made it a special experience. It certainly holds its high rating on TripAdvisor, and the price was worth every cent.
Quickly changing, we ventured out again for dinner, opting for a different venue compared to our first night in Cape Town. More on that later!
After a busy first day, we quickly changed and embarked on an outing for dinner, choosing a different place from our previous dinner in Cape Town. More on that later too.
With an early start due to our safari in the Kruger National Park for the past few days, we opted for a relatively early night. The following day we set out bright and early to explore Table Mountain. We had organized a day tour starting around 11 AM, and thus had to make the most of our time that morning.
Getting to Table Mountain is quite straightforward, though parking can be a challenge. You can park along the road leading up, but it involves a steep walk. Therefore, it’s advisable to skip the hassle and take a taxi instead. Alternatively, parking at the lower lot allows you to access a free shuttle that takes about five minutes to reach the top.
Within minutes, a revolving cable car will transport you to the summit, showcasing breathtaking vistas as you ascend.
Upon closer observation of the mountains, it becomes evident that individuals are scaling its heights. Initially, I thought they had simply lost their way, but upon further examination, I realized they were abseiling.
The views from the peak are nothing short of spectacular. Cape Town’s beauty was further enhanced by the majestic views from Table Mountain. Each vista had me falling deeper in love with South Africa.
If we did not have a scheduled day tour later, I would extend my time here and take the opportunity to relish the beach below as my ‘office for a day’!
Abseiling down the mountain is a popular activity, showcasing the adventurous spirit of many visitors.
At the top, visitors often meander to fully appreciate the breathtaking panoramas overlooking the city and its neighboring mountains.
Visiting Table Mountain is an experience I highly recommend; it offers a chance to appreciate the natural beauty of Cape Town. If you do not have a guided tour (like we did), leave plenty of time to explore this stunning location, perhaps even enjoying a drink while taking in the views!
