Here’s The Part Of Italy You Never Really See But Absolutely Have To Visit! (30)

Imagining Italy typically brings to mind stunning rolling hills, basking in its renowned sunshine, captivating cities, ancient churches, and vibrantly colored houses all stacked upon a hill overlooking the sea.

This imagery significantly contributes to our desire to visit Italy.

However, there exists a wealth of additional wonders within this remarkable country that often goes unnoticed, and we recently had the opportunity to discover these experiences firsthand!

This journey commenced with a picturesque drive from Verona to the Trentino region of Italy, featuring a delightful stop for lunch by a lovely lake.

Trentino is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, which include the Italian Alps and the magnificent Dolomites. One might easily believe they have been transported to Canada or the Rockies in the United States.

This location presents a landscape that appears distinctly non-European, let alone Italian.

The optimal base within this region is Madonna Di Campiglio, offering convenient access to numerous attractions.

Travelers can fly into Madonna Di Campiglio from either Verona or Milano Bergamo Airport, with the journey providing breathtaking scenery en route (it is advisable to allocate ample time for leisurely stops along the way).

Madonna Di Campiglio is renowned for its skiing attractions; however, the landscape transforms dramatically with the onset of summer.

During summer, the lush mountains stand in stark contrast to their snow-covered counterparts in winter, revealing the breathtaking allure of the Dolomites. While winter visits are commendable, summer experiences offer an entirely different level of magnificence!

Commencing with the panoramas provided by the surrounding mountains of Madonna Di Campiglio, with the Dolomites being the most stunning sight.

Following this, we ventured to the top of the slopes (where I anticipate a Blue run would exist in winter, which I can traverse down to the town before attempting to tackle a red run again. I assure you, there will be an internal struggle as I navigate that red run, even if I outwardly appear to manage it)

Partway down the mountain, approximately 15 – 20 minutes from the chairlifts, lies a tranquil valley where we found respite on the grass, enjoying the melodic tunes of Jack Savoretti while being serenaded by the serene Italian Alpine sunshine!

Additionally, we explored the national park in close proximity (where complimentary transport is often available from local hotels along with free admission via an area access card). Given the opportunity, I would love to embark on the approximately three-hour trek leading to the glacier on our next visit.
