On the following morning, we rose with the sun to explore the remainder of the Norangsdalen valley prior to embarking on our ferry from Hellesylt to Geiranger.
Our enthusiasm from the previous day enabled us to nearly complete the entire valley, arriving just shy of Hellesylt, resulting in a remarkably short drive to reach the ferry! Additionally, the extra time we allowed for photo opportunities meant we arrived well ahead of schedule.
Nonetheless, arriving early in Norway provides an excellent opportunity to take a leisurely walk and soak in the stunning surroundings, leaving no room for complaints. I truly appreciate this area.
Eventually, we boarded our ferry, prepared to set sail towards Geiranger.
Geiranger is an exceptionally remarkable location that has long been on my list of desired destinations.
This area houses Geirangerfjord, a stunning locale that has garnered UNESCO World Heritage status, making it an essential visit when in Norway.
The ferry journey is deliberately leisurely, allowing travelers ample time to fully appreciate the magnificence of the fjord.
Travelers receive detailed commentary about the various landmarks observed along the route, distinguishing this service from typical commuter ferries.
As you glide through the notably calm waters, majestic mountains surround you, adorned with breathtaking waterfalls that look even more captivating under the grey, foggy morning.
You may even encounter some local wildlife passing by to greet you!
This entire ferry journey builds anticipation for the exploration of this remarkable region of the world!
Recognizing familiar landmarks—familiar only from images on Pinterest and Google—heightens your excitement for arriving at Geirangerfjord. At this point, it’s time to head downstairs, get into your vehicle, and embark on an adventure through this Norwegian treasure.
Stay tuned for more updates very soon. 🙂
