The South Bank of London is a beloved location for both residents and visitors. This area is often regarded as one of the finest walking routes in London, complemented by an outstanding food market. Countless enjoyable afternoons can be spent exploring the South Bank and sampling its culinary delights.
We visited the London South Bank food market on a Friday, catching the festive spirit as summer approached.
As residents of Central London, we opted to seize the opportunity of the lovely weather and stroll to the South Bank – it was indeed a sunny day!
Our journey included stops by the well-known landmarks…
… and eventually continued along the South Bank, pausing periodically for photographs and to enjoy the performers.
We also checked out several performing artists during our wander along the South Bank.
Upon our arrival, we found the atmosphere vibrant and filled with energy.
A standard guideline at any food market in London is to conduct a preliminary tour to see the variety available before making choices.
After our initial exploration, we opted for healthy refreshments. This was particularly refreshing after our walk in the sun.
Despite my intentions to maintain restraint, the enticing aroma from a stall featuring crispy buttermilk chicken, chips, cheese, and gravy, akin to the savory Canadian dish poutine, proved irresistible.
Ultimately, I succumbed to temptation and reveled in the delicious dish. (Georgia opted for the same.)
Despite its appearance, the dish proved to be incredibly satisfying!
While relishing the buttermilk chicken, we ventured to try some delectable cumberland sausages (don’t judge me—I was quite hungry prior to our arrival).
This was promptly followed by refreshing cocktails!
Ending with a delightful hot drink as night approached, we prepared to meet friends for additional cocktails later.
Ultimately, our adventure concluded with warm beverages as the evening set in, keeping us energized for the night ahead.
Summer in London offers unparalleled joy; when you find yourself with some free time, consider visiting the South Bank Food Market for an unforgettable experience.
