Alternatively, by visiting the main harbor in Tanjung Kelayang, you may find a boat driver willing to negotiate an even better price through haggling. We adopted this approach during one of our visits and had a smooth experience, although some boat drivers may have limited English proficiency.

Pulau Lengkuas is a picturesque 2-acre island adorned with white sandy beaches and granite boulders. The breathtaking landscape evokes feelings of envy towards the local family who lives here full time to manage the lighthouse.
Before climbing the lighthouse, take time to stroll around and discover the island’s charm. A peaceful beach is located behind the houses, along with a sea of palm trees, which creates fantastic photo opportunities. You may even encounter beautiful seashells and vibrant monitor lizards during your exploration!
Lengkuas Lighthouse
The focal point of Pulau Lengkuas is the historic lighthouse, constructed by the Dutch in 1882, and it continues to operate today. Standing 18 stories tall, lucky visitors might be able to ascend to the top! Although some reviews mention restricted access, our visit in 2020 revealed no hindrances.
While a few stairs were rusted and missing, the majority of the structure appeared to be in surprisingly good shape, indicating ongoing maintenance over the years. The climb itself is straightforward, with windows on each floor providing rest opportunities to catch your breath.
At the top of the lighthouse, the lamp awaits your admiring gaze, and stepping out onto the balcony will reward you with a 360-degree panoramic view of the island and the alluring rock formations below. This experience is truly exceptional!
Lengkuas Snorkeling
The waters surrounding Lengkuas Island are calm, presenting excellent snorkeling opportunities. The finest spots are near the tiny island adjacent to Lengkuas as well as on the reef at the back of the island. Be sure to ask your boat driver to guide you to these beautiful locations, as they can be challenging to access independently.
During your snorkeling adventure, vibrant fish species and thriving coral await you, with the water depth being just right for an enjoyable experience.
Entrance Fees
Visiting Lengkuas Island is free of charge. However, if you decide to climb to the top of the lighthouse, there is a small fee of 10k Rupiah (less than one US Dollar).
