Bangkok was a destination I’ve long desired to experience.
After visiting Phuket and Phi Phi Island, Thailand quickly ascended as one of my preferred holiday destinations, heightening my interest in the capital, which has beckoned for quite some time.
Upon our arrival in Bangkok in the evening, complete with travel fatigue and jetlag, our evening itinerary consisted merely of dinner and rest. (A cocktail or a glass of wine wouldn’t have been turned down either… 😉).
I may have ordered more than one main dish! (In my defense, the portions were modest, thus it was reasonable to double-up…).
It is essential to adhere to the attire regulations at this monument. Visitors are required to wear trousers or sarongs and are prohibited from wearing shorts — a rule we were unaware of prior to our visit, but it was easily remedied as there are many shops selling appropriate attire in the vicinity.
Upon completing our visit to The Grand Palace, we departed to pursue a boat tour of the city’s Khlongs — the intricate canal system. The experience provides a unique perspective on Bangkok.
Traveling by boat enabled us to encounter remarkable sights along the canal banks, including charming shops, vibrant local life, and intricate architectural structures.
Following the boat tour, we stopped by a famous restaurant for lunch.
We savored traditional Thai Green Curry and a delightful array of dishes, thoroughly enjoying my dining experience.
Our journey continued to the Chao Phraya River, taking in various vibrant scenes along the waterways, including local artisans, lush landscapes, and tranquil floating markets.
With such diverse experiences, we concluded our exploration by heading back to the hotel for a well-deserved massage, enhancing our relaxation.
As evening approached, we embraced a duality of experiences: one dedicated to exploration and another for respite. With special plans awaiting later that night, we aimed to be well-rested.
Stay tuned for insights on our evening adventures in the subsequent post! 😀
