Hotel Vila Ombak, Gili Trawangan

Address: Jalan Pantai Gili Trawangan (location map)

Day 1: Upon our arrival, we were struck by the pristine beauty of the crystal-clear ocean waves lapping against Gili Trawangan’s white sandy beaches. The view from the ferry was remarkably beautiful, and even before stepping onto this small island paradise, I had the feeling I could reside there indefinitely.

After a four-hour ferry ride, we arrived at Gili Trawangan Island, stepping off right onto the white sandy beach. Despite the challenge of transporting our luggage through the sand to the single road that wound around the island, it became evident that Gili Trawangan is a non-motorized zone, limiting transportation options to bicycles or horse-drawn carriages.

With two suitcases and additional carry-on luggage, we opted for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage to our initial accommodation. This brief journey was both delightful and amusing, making it a recommended activity for those who enjoy light adventures. As we traversed the narrow street, we garnered our first impressions of the island. Just as we began to revel in this charming ride, we arrived at our destination.

At Hotel Vila Ombak, we were welcomed by friendly locals and refreshing welcome drinks, which were particularly appreciated after our lengthy transfer to the island. Following this warm reception, we were escorted through the picturesque hotel grounds to our private two-bedroom villa.

This villa was stunning, complete with our own private pool, an outdoor living area, and all necessary amenities. Surrounding our villa was one of the most beautiful and expansive gardens I had ever seen. Charming pathways led to various hotel structures, large chess boards, and a tranquil hammock positioned beneath a flowering tree. The atmosphere was so serene that it allowed one to easily forget the trivialities of everyday life.

We spent the remainder of the day in our private villa, preparing for dinner, and enjoying an extraordinary meal accompanied by live music beneath a starlit sky, overlooking the ocean.

Day 2: The following morning, we wandered through the garden pathways to breakfast. A variety of tropical fruits, fresh pancakes, pastries, and robust coffee awaited us in the restaurant.

Seated on a wooden terrace adjacent to the main pool, we enjoyed our generous breakfast while taking in the scenery of the beautiful hotel complex and the clear blue ocean visible from our table.

With bicycles conveniently provided at our villa, we decided to embark on a cycling tour around the island. We circumnavigated Gili Trawangan and explored its many wonders. After a long day of exploration, we settled on the beach to appreciate a breathtaking sunset.

Ametis Villa, Canggu

Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, Canggu (location map)

Day 3: On our final morning at Hotel Vila Ombak, we awoke early and headed to the beach for some sun before returning to Bali. I have yet to experience a more inviting and warmer ocean. Swimming felt akin to soaking in a hot bath.

Although I was reluctant to depart this idyllic island, many adventures awaited us in our holiday, as there remained plenty to discover.

Upon returning to Bali, we traveled to Canggu, arriving at our next destination, Ametis Villa.

The entrance displayed an impressive aesthetic! The hotel’s style blended vast gray stone walls adorned with beautiful hanging plants alongside charming Balinese wooden furnishings. As we absorbed our surroundings, we wished for an extended stay; the ambiance was enchanting, with elegance and luxury evident in every detail.

Upon entering our villa, we were welcomed by a magnificent pool extending from the residence to a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and expansive outdoor living area. In our bedroom, we found boxes of complimentary brownies, cookies, nuts, and local delicacies that were absolutely delectable.

The bedroom featured a dreamy king bed, with sheer curtains draped overhead. A large mirror beside the bed, which functioned as a door, separated the bedroom from the bathroom. The bathroom, with its marble and glass design, offered a perfect view of the villa’s garden and pool area from the bathtub.

During our stay at Ametis Villa, we seldom left this breathtaking sanctuary; it was an incredibly tranquil and rejuvenating experience.

Day 4: Another magnificent tropical day dawned, coinciding with our initial morning at Ametis Villa. We aimed to maximize this experience.

We awoke and immediately plunged into our private pool while awaiting our complimentary three-course breakfast. The variety of delectable offerings was astounding; I cannot recall last indulging in such a bountiful breakfast.

The experience was delightful, everything was impeccable, and I can confidently state that I would eagerly revisit this enchanting location.

By midday, we checked out of our splendid villa and enjoyed lunch at a stunning restaurant nearby named The Slow. We were fortunate to sample nearly everything on the menu, making it difficult to identify a favorite dish since everything was extraordinarily flavorsome!

With satisfied appetites, we leisurely strolled along the street, engaging in light shopping in local boutiques.

Villa Air Bali, Seminyak

Address: Jl. Lebak Sari, Br. Taman, Petitenget, Seminyak (location map)

Day 5: Later that day, we arrived at Villa Air Bali, our new home for the next two days. Following a warm reception from the exceptionally friendly staff, we were swiftly transported via golf cart through the lush greenery directly to our private villa.

Choosing to remain at the hotel following our lunch outing, we ordered from the room service menu.

We truly savored both our delicious meal and a delightful evening following a splendid day.

Day 6: The following morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast delivered to our room, which we enjoyed in our outdoor dining area. The selection was extensive, making it challenging to choose our preferred breakfast items.

Being in close proximity to the vibrant heart of Seminyak, we eagerly set out to explore the narrow streets lined with local shops and the renowned Instagram-worthy cafés of Bali.

We hailed a Blue Bird Taxi and headed directly to the iconic Sea Circus café. This exquisite establishment exceeded our expectations; the cuisine was delectable, and the charming décor, vibrant colors both inside and outside, provided the perfect opportunity for Instagram posts.

Day 7: On the subsequent day, we marveled at Sal Secret Spot’s stunning design in daylight.

Although this last resort was considerably smaller than those previously visited, it was truly breathtaking. The simplicity throughout was accented with beautiful details. Each suite boasted a unique charm, making it difficult to determine which was the most exquisite; all possessed distinctive qualities.

A particular highlight was the striking saltwater pool with two levels; one for swimming and another for relaxation.

Additionally, Bingin Beach, with its clear waters and excellent surfing opportunities, was merely a five-minute walk from the hotel. Inspired by this, we planned a beach day. The waves were exhilarating, creating a spectacular experience amidst the stunning surroundings.

Day 8: On our final day at Sal Secret Spot, we relished the peaceful tranquility by the pool.

This was my inaugural visit to Bali, and despite my high expectations, I was amazed by the island’s vibrant beauty, graciousness, and diversity.

During my brief trip, I endeavored to experience as much as possible; however, I still feel that I have only skimmed the surface as numerous adventures await discovery.
