Best Oman Tours

If you’re looking to explore Oman with the convenience of a tour guide and private transportation, Klook comes highly recommended. Although Oman can be a bit more expensive for travel, Klook offers Rustaq day tours from $65 USD and Nizwa tours at similar prices. Both tours start from Muscat and allow you to discover some of the most remarkable Omani castles, forts, and vibrant markets.

My experiences with Klook for various tours and activities worldwide have been excellent, making them a highly recommended option.

An Naman Castle: What To Expect

Despite being referred to as a castle, An Naman may be more accurately described as a fort due to its size. Nevertheless, it remains an impressive and fascinating site to explore. While it may not be as widely recognized as some of the other forts in Oman, An Naman is incredibly photogenic and has recently reopened after extensive restoration work.

Ensure to bring plenty of water, as the walk to the top of the castle can be very hot, especially during the warmer months.

Entrance Fees

As of 2024, there is no cost to enter An Naman Castle, making it a budget-friendly stop on your travel itinerary.

How To Get To An Naman Castle

Situated in Barka, An Naman Castle is approximately 70 kilometers (45 miles) from Muscat. Visitors have the option to drive there in a rental car, or they may choose prepackaged day tours from Muscat that include the castle as part of their itinerary.

Where I Stayed

I opted for a pleasant stay at the 2-star Mutrah Hotel in Muscat, where I stayed in a private room for $38 USD per night. While Oman is not the most budget-friendly destination, my room was spacious, clean, and equipped with an efficient air conditioner.

The hotel’s location was particularly advantageous, as it was near a mini-mart and within walking distance to the Mutrah Souq (traditional market) and other notable sites.

Be aware that lodging prices can vary, so it’s advisable to look for competitive rates when planning your stay.
