Exploring Two Of Europe’s Smallest Villages In The Faroe Islands
1. Saksun Village
As referenced earlier, the Saksunarvegur route eventually directs you to Saksun. While it may initially appear as an ordinary, quaint village, upon arrival, you will quickly discover its unique charm and significance, distinguishing it from any other village you have encountered.
The view from here is breathtaking!
Here, you will find towering mountains, adorned with rugged grass that slopes into a glacial-like lake, featuring a beach and bordered by the sea. Should you be fortunate, the weather may present fog or snowfall during your visit, enhancing its extraordinary beauty!
2. Eiu00F0i Village
Continuing from Saksun, our journey led us to Eiu00F0i (pronounced somewhat like “Ah-e-yeah” if spoken quickly). This stop, while unplanned, seemed ideal as we had prepared a picnic for lunch.
3. Gjógv Village
After enjoying our lunch, we set off towards Gjógv, a village named after the gorge filled with sea water it possesses.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by stunning views, revealing the captivating scenery typical of the Faroe Islands.
