Visit the Historic El Badi Palace Ruins in Morocco

Morocco is one of the most unforgettable destinations I’ve experienced, with Marrakesh standing out as especially captivating. The allure of Marrakesh is difficult to pinpoint — it might be the raw charm of the place, the Arabic heritage, or the vibrant energy of the locals. The beautiful colors of the city and the unique shopping experience, along with the significant temperature changes from day to night, create a memorable adventure.

Exploring the El Badi Palace (Ruins)

One of the highlights of my Morocco trip was visiting the El Badi Palace, which translates to The Incomparable Palace. This grand symbol of Marrakesh offers extensive views over the city and unique insights into Moroccan life, enhanced by the presence of storks nesting atop the palace walls. Rather than delving into the detailed history, here’s a brief overview of my experience at the palace.

Tips for Visiting the El Badi Palace

1.) Stay Hydrated: Carry a bottle of water. The palace has limited shaded areas, and you’ll likely feel thirsty quickly. A smaller 50cl or 75cl bottle will suffice since hotels often provide complimentary water.

2.) Bring Appropriate Camera Gear: A wide angle lens or adapter can enhance your photography experience as the palace grounds are extensive, showcasing beautiful architecture and scenery.

3.) Wear Comfortable Shoes: The heat and long walks necessitate suitable footwear. Shoes that allow your feet to breathe are highly recommended.

4.) Dress Moderately: While some tourists wear casual outfits, it’s advisable for women to cover their legs and arms in public spaces such as the Souks to respect local customs.

5.) Optimize Your Browsing: Downloading the Opera Mini browser on your phone is smart for fast browsing and saves on data, ensuring you can research things on the go, especially with limited hotel WiFi access during peak hours.
