Archaeological Survey in Greece

An underwater archaeological survey in southern Greece is searching for sunken remains of one of Europe’s oldest human settlements. The Swiss-Greek project, involving the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, is utilizing the world’s largest solar-powered boat, the 35m PlanetSolar, to meticulously scan the seabed. Divers are available for excavation of any findings.

The survey is located in Kiladha Bay, near the Franchthi Cave. This cave is recognized as Greece’s oldest and most significant Neolithic site, with evidence of habitation for approximately 35,000 years.
