After viewing wild elephants in Udawalawe, we spent the remainder of the evening unwinding by the pool, champagne in hand…
The following morning, we commenced our explorations of a location I was previously unfamiliar with—Beruwala.
Beruwala is a charming coastal town, and after exploring the local area, we were drawn to the Kande Viharaya Temple, notable for its impressive Big Buddha.
We wandered around the temple (in Sri Lanka, it is customary to circumnavigate temples with your right arm oriented toward the temples, in a clockwise manner) before heading down to the town…
…after navigating past the railway, we hopped into the vehicle in search of our next accommodation in Sri Lanka—The Vivanta by Taj.
At first glance (discounting the impressive entrance), the Vivanta by Taj appears to be a relatively compact hotel… this impression changes as you commence to explore its numerous corridors, often leading to a sense of disorientation. Nevertheless, this phenomenon is not unwelcomed; there is a certain charm in being enveloped in an environment that exudes intimacy despite its sizeable nature.
