The subsequent morning, we resolved to maximize our experience by awakening early to thoroughly explore Baden-Baden.
Baden-Baden is truly a captivating city, perhaps even more so when bathed in the gentle glow of morning sunlight.
We leisurely navigated through the city, heading towards one of its most significant landmarks—the casino.
While visiting a casino in the morning may appear unconventional, particularly in such an elegant spa city, this establishment holds great significance in the city’s heritage. It has historically welcomed renowned figures, including celebrities and royal families.
Its interior is exceedingly lavish, and to appreciate it fully, guided tours can be arranged for a more in-depth experience.
Regrettably, we had not arranged for a comprehensive tour during this visit, thus it remains on our list for the next time we are in Baden-Baden.
Regardless of the lack of a scheduled tour, visitors can still enter the premises to get a glimpse of the grandeur, even if just briefly.
After departing from the casino, we moved to another stunning section of the Kurhaus complex, known as Trinkhalle.
The Trinkhalle, or ‘Pump House,’ carries a misleading name. It may sound like a quaint building, but it is, in fact, an extraordinary outdoor gallery adorned with exquisite fresco-lined walls. It is undeniably stunning!
Although the casino is remarkable, if you are pressed for time in Baden-Baden and can only visit one location, this should be it!
Despite being short on time with several more locations to explore, we found ourselves enchanted by the beauty of this remarkable area in Baden-Baden.
Ultimately, we fell significantly behind our planned schedule, realizing upon a fleeting glance at the clock that we needed to depart Baden-Baden imminently.
Nevertheless, Baden-Baden had one more location for us to explore before leaving.
To reach this site, one must take a funicular ride to Merkur Mountain, where one encounters stunning views of the city and the surrounding Black Forest region. Additionally, there is a restaurant and bar/café located there, providing an ideal setting to unwind, enjoy a drink or a meal, and appreciate the scenery, especially on a sunlit day.
However, as I previously noted, our limited time prevented us from lingering to enjoy a warm beverage. When you have the opportunity to visit, be sure to allocate some time to savor a drink while taking in the view.
Departing from Baden-Baden, we set off in pursuit of the Schnapps Distillery Trail.
Just prior to reaching the trail, we opted to stop by Geroldsauer Waterfall. (*It’s essential to note that numerous beautiful attractions await in The Black Forest. Should I have not mentioned this earlier, consider yourself forewarned—prepare for multiple spontaneous stops and ensure you allocate ample time).
To reach Geroldsauer Waterfall, one must park along the roadside (there exists a small area with sufficient space for several vehicles) and navigate a short yet steep path, where the sound of flowing water will lead you to the waterfall.
It is a delightful spot within the Black Forest and unquestionably merits a visit.
In this luxurious establishment, you can indulge in a delightful experience while utilizing the opportunity to observe scenic surroundings.
Therefore, the casino offers a splendid experience, yet if you find yourself short on time while in Baden-Baden and can only visit one site, this should be your priority!
Despite time constraints and a plethora of other places left to see, we easily became engrossed in the captivating beauty of this area within Baden-Baden.
Consequently, we fell behind schedule and a brief glance at the time made it clear that we had to depart from Baden-Baden promptly.
However, Baden-Baden was not done with us yet; one more destination awaited our visit before we departed.
To visit this site, one must take the funicular up to Merkur Mountain, which offers some of the most breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding area of the Black Forest. Additionally, a restaurant and bar/cafe are situated there, making it an ideal location to relax and enjoy refreshments while soaking in the scenery, particularly on a sunny day.
