Residing in Avondale, I have observed its remarkable evolution from a sparsely inhabited agricultural area to a vibrant municipality of Phoenix, located just 15 miles away. Lying adjacent to the scenic Agua Fría River, Avondale boasts a rich historical tapestry that dates back to the 1890s, when it was initially founded as Coldwater, Arizona. Over the years, it adopted its current name, Avondale, owing to the adjacent post office’s proximity to Avondale Ranch. Similar to many towns in Arizona, Avondale experienced a substantial influx of residents beginning in the 1990s, following its elevation to city status in 1946. Currently, it stands as a contemporary city with a flourishing community, providing a favorable climate year-round. Its strategic position within the Phoenix metropolitan area facilitates easy access to the state capital and its numerous opportunities.
