Travel booking site lastminute.com has released findings from a study focusing on the top eco-tourism spots within European cities. This study evaluates the environmental friendliness of cities based on factors such as the number of green spaces available, the expansiveness of public transport networks, cycle routes, and the availability of carbon-free activities like walking and canal boat tours.
It’s essential to note that the study only explored major cities in Europe. Small towns and less-visited cities present ideal opportunities for green travel, especially in the current era of over-tourism. Copenhagen
Copenhagen is recognized as the best city for eco-tourism, achieving a score of 6.8 out of 10. This bike-friendly city integrates sustainability into its urban planning. Previously awarded the European Green Capital title, it has been acknowledged as a “transport pioneer” by the European Commission for its cyclist-friendly infrastructure.
Amsterdam
