TIPS WHEN TRAVELLING TO DUBAI

1. Bring cash

Many taxis do not accept card payments, rendering attempts to hail one down without dirhams frustrating, particularly under the hot sun.

2. Know the day

The UAE’s weekend is observed on Friday and Saturday. As Friday is the holy day, certain attractions may remain closed until early evening.

3. Respect the culture

While Dubai is remarkably modern and social, especially in the Marina area, it is crucial to respect the local Muslim culture. When entering malls or governmental areas, ensure that shoulders and knees are covered.

4. Get connected

Upon arrival at the airport, tourists can obtain a local SIM card, and free Wi-Fi is generally available in public locations, which is vital for navigation and planning.

5. Make a plan

With extensive activities available and limited time, plan your itinerary carefully to ensure you capture those quintessential ‘Instagram moments.’

6. Know your seasons!

The desert climate means excessive heat and humidity in summer, often exceeding 50°C. It is advisable to avoid visiting from May to August when many attractions close. The ideal time to visit is from October to March when the weather is pleasantly warm and suitable for outdoor activities. Additionally, be aware of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims, which shifts annually by approximately ten days.

10 MUST DO’S IN DUBAI

Selecting just ten experiences in Dubai is challenging due to the diversity of offerings; however, here are our recommendations:

1. Bedouin Camp / Desert Safari Tour

A Dubai Desert Safari Tour is essential. Experience the sunset while traversing the untouched desert in a vintage 1950s Land Rover, and enjoy a captivating falconry show. Arrive at a traditional Bedouin-style camp where entertainment, henna, camel rides, and a delightful evening await. This experience provides a serene escape from the bustling city and offers a memorable glimpse into local heritage.

Another notable shopping venue is the Mall of the Emirates, which offers a hands-free shopping service.
