Exploring Rocamadour and the Dordogne Valley
Rocamadour was one French gem I was looking forward to seeing, and it certainly met my expectations!
When you’re here, you can’t leave without trying one of the region’s most famous items – Rocamadour cheese, and it doesn’t get much fresher than from the actual farm!

Rocamadour cheese is made from goat’s milk, so visiting the livestock is essential. You might be surprised by how large the goats’ udders are!

Moving on to lunch, we headed to Chateau De La Treyne, part of the French luxury group Relais & Chateau, known for its Michelin-Star restaurant. It is a truly impressive building!
While my group rushed inside for food and champagne, I sauntered around the magnificent grounds, soaking in the scenic views.

Eventually, I found my way to the welcoming glass of champagne, enjoying the beautiful views of the countryside while nibbling on some delightful treats to begin our meal.

After our appetizers, we indulged in a delightful meal that began with a refreshing pea soup.

This was swiftly followed by eggs and asparagus, cozying up alongside a beautiful selection of duck dishes, which quickly became my favorite from this trip through the Dordogne Valley.

Pre-dessert treated us to a delicious nutty chocolate masterpiece, before moving on to a unique dessert of red fruit sorbet, crispy opaline, and champagne jelly topped with strawberries. It was an experience of sheer perfection.

After the lavish dinner, the stunning sun began to shine through, ready to set our coffees and even more pastries on the terrace.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with wandering through the surrounding area, truly getting lost among the beautiful French countryside. Definitely not a bad way to spend a summer afternoon!
