Breezes Bahamas Resort: All-Inclusive Getaway at Cable Beach

The Breezes Bahamas all-inclusive resort exudes the inviting atmosphere of a family-run hotel, despite its association with the diminishing SuperClubs chain. Nestled on Nassau’s renowned Cable Beach and adjacent to the halted Baha Mar complex, Breezes enjoys a significant advantage over the luxury resort: it is fully operational.

Furthermore, the presence of Baha Mar is likely to enhance the charm of a Breezes Bahamas stay rather than take away from it. Breezes guests can relish the same stunning beach but at a considerably lower price point. If the all-inclusive dining loses its allure, guests can easily meander to Baha Mar for various dining options, casinos, or enjoy golf and other amenities that are open to the public. According to Breezes sales manager Hedda Smith, a prudent strategy for budget-conscious visitors is to “stay here, play there.”

Lots Included, and Some Attractive Add-Ons, Too

Currently, there’s much to appreciate about the Breezes Bahamas, which comprises 392 well-maintained rooms. While the bright decor reflects styles from the late 80s and early 90s, the resort remains in good condition, especially the lobby that has undergone renovations. Although the resort may feel secondary compared to contemporary luxury options, Breezes continues to thrive where others have faltered.

Offering excellent value, the resort’s SuperInclusive package—priced at $175-200 per person, per night—covers all meals, drinks, and water sports. The only additional cost encountered was for spa services, which were truly worth it; massages were exceptionally done in private cabanas, distanced from activities and noise. Moreover, beach cabanas are available for daily rentals, complete with a personal waiter, ensuring prompt service for an additional $20 a day.

Authentic Local Cuisine Part of the Inclusive Dining Mix

Culinary experiences at Breezes significantly distinguish it from lesser resorts. Guests can indulge in genuine island flavors at Reggae Cafe, featuring delectable offerings like conch fritters infused with Bahamian Kalik beer, jerk chicken with traditional “festivals,” and classic “broil fish” accompanied by rice and beans.

The Banana Boat buffet excels, especially during breakfast, while the Munasan Japanese restaurant serves satisfactory sushi and Teppanyaki-style dishes. Martino’s presents an old-school Italian vibe, featuring palate-pleasing dishes like chicken parmigiana and signature penne with Caribbean lobster. Although the nightclub exudes a retro aesthetic from the 60s, the more inviting outdoor courtyard at the couples-only Garden of Eden restaurant adds charm.

Try Your Hand at Water Sports, Rock Climbing, Tennis — Even Trapeze

The resort’s atmosphere can vary significantly based on the season. During our visit, it was relatively calm, having just followed Spring Break. Therefore, timing your stay is important if you prefer a more tranquil ambiance rather than echoing college-style revelries from past years.

Apart from the pool, Breezes features a tennis center, basketball and beach volleyball courts, a rock-climbing wall, and several non-motorized water sports such as windsurfing, sailing, and kayaking. Regular lessons for tennis, sailing, and even trapeze are available. Additionally, resort staff occasionally organize pool games, and amenities like ping-pong tables receive frequent use. Evening entertainment includes live performances from the house band near the lobby bar.

While the rooms may not be extravagant, they offer substantial value. Our fifth-floor oceanfront suite was surprisingly spacious with notable amenities such as a large bathroom, mahogany furniture, a work desk, and a flat-screen TV. The resort includes 391 rooms overall, featuring 5 suites, 28 Deluxe Oceanfront rooms, and 8 new Deluxe Beachfront rooms. Certain ground-floor rooms provide direct beach access, while others boast furnished patios and hammocks.

Just Far Enough Away for Privacy, But Still Convenient to Downtown Nassau

Located a short distance from downtown Nassau, Cable Beach strikes a balance between seclusion and convenience, providing a safe, serene environment. A $15 cab ride offers access to downtown attractions like Greycliff hotel, known for its unique chocolates, and nearby John Watling’s rum distillery. For a more economical option, the city bus (or “jitney”) runs regularly, costing just $1.25 each way.

Regardless of the travel option, expect to traverse well-maintained roads linking Cable Beach to both the airport and downtown, a benefit of being situated next to the Baha Mar—something guests will appreciate until the mega-resort finally reopens.
