Best Sunrise at Sanur Beach Bali: Top Timing and Photography Locations

Sanur Beach may not rank up there with Bali’s top beaches, but it does shine as one of the best sunrise spots on the island.

During my first visit to Bali, I spent some time in Sanur, and I loved to walk over to the beach for sunrise pictures whenever I had trouble sleeping.

The combination of a cool morning breeze, birds chirping, fishermen wading out on the reef, the majestic Mount Agung volcano in the distance, and the stunning sunrise display creates a truly magical atmosphere.

Best Photo Spots

Gazebos, volcanoes, and fishing boats make this an excellent location for sunrise photography.

Mount Agung and Nusa Penida are often visible in the early morning, and you can sometimes even catch a glimpse of Mount Rinjani in Lombok.

One of the best spots for photography is just after you exit the beach access at Jl. Pantai Karang (click here for a map). From here, you have a choice of four different gazebos, often accompanied by one or two boats.

Every sunrise is unique, particularly at Sanur Beach.

Best Time To Go

The sunrise time at Sanur Beach varies depending on the day and month, ranging from 5:45 AM to 6:45 AM. It’s advised to check it on your weather app.

Make sure to arrive at the beach and be ready at least 15-30 minutes before sunrise. This way, you will have ample time to find the ideal photo spot. Often, the most vibrant colors begin to appear before the sun rises.

Enjoy the experience! It is undoubtedly one of the best sunrise spots in Bali.

Is It Safe?

Rest assured, Sanur Beach is very safe!

Bali is generally a safe destination, and Sanur is among the more peaceful areas of the island. I’ve brought my camera gear here in the early morning without a worry.

At this time of day, many people jog along the path at Sanur Beach, and you’ll also find numerous photographers capturing their own sunrise moments.

Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental

For those wishing to explore Bali in comfort and safety, I recommend opting for a private car with an English-speaking driver through GetYourGuide.

Their prices start at 700k Rupiah (~$48 USD) for a full day of transportation and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for one to five passengers. This price covers the entire car along with the driver and petrol, making it a great deal. They also provide affordable hotel transfers from the airport.

If you prefer traveling by motorbike, they offer that too. Their scooter rentals start at 140k Rupiah (~$9) and include a helmet, raincoat, and free delivery in the southern Bali area.

We’ve utilized GetYourGuide for numerous tours and activities worldwide, and they come highly recommended.
